Solana Beach

Solana Beach is a beautiful, small well to do beach community just north of Torrey Pines and Del Mar. This beautiful city was carved out using hydraulic water pressure in the early 20’s. In 1925 one man using a fire hose over three months was able to transform the landscape and create access to develop the community along the beach. The beach was opened to the community and received great support as they held the first horse races on the beach on 4th of July 1925. In 2003 Solana Beach received national news coverage for being the first city in the continental US to ban smoking on public beaches. Solana Beach took an opposite view on alcohol on the beach and was the very last city in north county San Diego to ban consumption of alcohol on the beach. While not everyone likes the bans it really did improve the atmosphere and environment for everyone to enjoy. Solana Beach has some of the nicest beaches in San Diego and draws thousands of patrons weekly. The beaches are not the only thing that make Solana Beach a great spot to visit. There is a 1 mile stretch along the 101 that has some of the most delicious niche restaurants and bars in San Diego. If you’re really looking for a great night Belly Up Tavern is a must. This small music venue continues to draw some of the biggest names in music year after year. Just remember to be safe when out at night and get that Uber when you need it.
